On July 15, 2021, class action plaintiffs reached a $2.65 million settlement agreement with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UMPC) over a 2014 data breach that exposed the financial information of 27,000 UMPC employees.
Despite settling, UMPC denies the wrongdoings of the data breach and claims to have only settled the dispute to avoid further legal expenses.
