Remote Source Code Review Approved in Apple Patent Dispute

    On June 25, 2020, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas signed a COVID-19 protective order addendum in a patent dispute between electronics company Maxell Ltd. and Apple Inc., in which Apple agreed to provide “specially-configured source code discovery laptops” that will be shipped directly to Maxell code reviewers.

    The source code in dispute relates to 10 Apple patents covering features such as Apple Maps walking navigation, Find My Friends, and AirDrop file transfers.
