On April 17, 2020, the New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) efforts to remove fraudulent websites that illegally profit off of the COVID-19 pandemic through means of various phishing and marketing schemes that promote fraudulent charities, sell fake treatments, and advertise non-FDA approved home testing kits.
The OAG has worked with domain name registrars to remove more than 20 fraudulent websites thus far.
