On March 11, 2019, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued an order in the trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract dispute between plaintiffs BladeRoom Group Ltd. et al. and defendants Emerson Electric Co. et al., granting BladeRoom’s request for exemplary damages in the amount of $30 million.
The ruling brings BladeRoom’s total damages awarded to $60 million, as a May 2018 jury verdict granted BladeRoom $30 million in damages after finding Emerson breached a confidentiality agreement and misappropriated trade secrets related to a design and method for manufacturing and installing pre-fabricated data centers.
