Judge Approves $5 Billion Facebook Settlement with FTC

    On April 23, 2020, a judge in the U.S District Court for the District of Columbia approved a settlement between the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Facebook, Inc. regarding the 2018 Cambridge Analytica investigation.

    Facebook agreed to a $5 billion fine following the 2018 breach which resulted in approximately 50 million user profiles being mined for data.
