IT Security Company Agrees to Pay $15 Million to Settle Patent Disputes Brought by Symantec

    On January 14, 2020, cloud-based security company Zscaler, Inc. reached a settlement with cybersecurity company Symantec Corporation and its parent company Broadcom Inc., in which Zscaler agreed to pay $15 million to settle all patent infringement allegations.

    Symantec filed the first of several patent infringement lawsuits against Zscaler in December 2016, wherein Symantec alleged that the IT security company infringed upon several patents related to network intrusion detection, efficient data scanning, malicious code detection, and security testing.
