On July 8, 2021, investment banking company Morgan Stanely announced that they had experienced a data breach within their Accellion FTA server, which exposed personal customer information belonging to Morgan Stanley stock participants.
Morgan Stanley reports that a cyber attacker breached the Accellion FTA server through a vulnerability within the server, which Guidehouse, a third-party vendor that provides account maintenance services for Morgan Stanley’s StockPlan Connect business, located and fixed in May 2021.
