Former Microsoft Software Engineer Embezzles $10 Million Worth of Digital Currency

    On February 25, 2020, U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran announced that former Microsoft software engineer Volodymyr Kvashuk was convicted of 18 federal felonies, including access device fraud and access to a protected computer in furtherance of fraud, which Kvashuk committed during a scheme to defraud Microsoft of more than $10 million in digital currency.

    Following the five-day jury trial that found Kvashuk guilty on 18 counts, a judge will issue a sentence of up to 20 years in prison on June 1, 2020.
