On March 24, 2022, the Harris County Jail’s “Jweb” system was not operational for 50 hours.
During that time, between 280 to 300 defendants waited to see a magistrate for their probable cause hearing but did not due to the system failure. As a result, defendants were released because it is the law for defendants to receive a probable cause hearing within 48 hours.
