On January 24, 2020, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California awarded WiLAN $85.23 million in a patent infringement dispute against Apple, Inc.
The case began in September 2014, when WiLAN alleged that Apple failed to pay licensing fees for patents related to mobile and wireless communication systems used in Apple’s iPhone 6 and 7.
