Connecticut Passes New Data Breach and Data Security Statutes

On June 16, 2021 and July 6, 2021, Connecticut government signed into law Public Act 21-59 and Public Act 21-119, respectively.

These regulations will create more notice obligations for businesses subject to a data security issue and provide incentives for enhanced data security to protect residents’ personal information. Both statutes will become effective in Connecticut on October 1, 2021.
