Textbook Publishers Sue Shopify Over Software Piracy

    On December 1, 2021, five textbook publishers filed a lawsuit against e-commerce company Shopify Inc. for profiting off the textbooks’ content through Shopify’s software which infringes on their trademarks.

    The publishers claim that Shopify permits several websites to illegally duplicate and sell the textbooks’ material using their software.
