On August 31, 2021, Illinois-based Metro Infectious Disease Consultants (MIDC) notified over 171 thousand patients that their personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) was at risk of exposure following a June 24 data breach, in which an unauthorized third-party hacked MIDC’s employee email accounts.
MIDC will offer complimentary identity protection to all patients impacted by the data breach.
