On February 6, 2019, DLA Piper released a GDPR Data Breach Survey which reports that over 59,000 personal data breaches were reported to regulators since the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect on May 25, 2018.
In contrast with the high number of breach reports, only 91 fines have been imposed by European data protection authorities.
