Former Google Engineer Pleads Guilty to Theft of Self-Driving Car Technology Trade Secrets

    On March 19, 2020, former Google software engineer Anthony Levandowski pleaded guilty to stealing trade secret documents related to self-driving car technology before launching his own company, which was later acquired by Uber Technologies Inc.

    As part of a plea agreement, Levandowski pled guilty to one count of trade secret misappropriation for downloading a file that tracked technical goals for Google’s self-driving car project.
