On February 14, 2019, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed a decision of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware that granted summary judgment of non-infringement to defendant Sonitor Technologies, Inc. and that invalidated plaintiff CenTrak, Inc.’s patent based on its failure to satisfy the written description requirement.
The patent infringement case began in February 2014, when CenTrak alleged Sonitor Technologies infringed its patents related to Real Time Locating Systems (RTLS) used to identify and track devices through Wi-Fi and ultrasound technology.
