Aspen Olmsted

He has held various academic positions:

• Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science department at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.
• Previously, he was a Program Director and Associate Professor at Simmons University (from 2021-07-01 to 2023-06-30).
• He was also a Professor and Program Director of Computer Science at Fisher College (from 2018-08-16 to 2021-08-15).
• He served as an Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Director at the College of Charleston (from 2010-08-16 to 2018-08-15).
• He has also been an adjunct faculty member and program director at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, where he helped develop an online graduate cybersecurity program called Cyberfellows.

Research and Contributions:

Dr. Olmsted’s research focuses on developing algorithms and architectures for distributed enterprise solutions that prioritize security, correctness, and high availability. He leads a Secure Data Engineering Lab where he mentors graduate and undergraduate students in secure software development research. He has authored books, including “Security-Driven Software Development” and “Visual Basic Quickstart Guide,” and has contributed numerous conference and journal papers in areas such as cloud computing, secure software development, and distributed transactions. He has presented at conferences by organizations like IEEE and IARIA.
