On July 22, 2019, Equifax agreed to pay at least $1.38 billion to resolve consumer claims arising from the 2017 Equifax data breach that compromised the personal information of nearly 150 million Americans.
The settlement allocates $380.5 million to pay benefits to class members, including “cash compensation, credit monitoring, and help with identity restoration,” and a minimum of $1 billion to improve Equifax data security.
