On July 19, 2021, northeast medical system Jefferson Health announced that they had experienced a data breach, exposing patients’ protected health information (PHI).
The data breach occurred within vendor Elekta Health’s cloud-based database that allows Jefferson Health clinic providers to access patient information regarding cancer treatments. The data at risk of exposure includes patient names, medical record numbers, and clinical information; however, no insurance and/or payment card information was involved.
