Detroit County Commissioner Fires Software Development Contractors Over Failed and Delayed ERP Software Project

    In 2019, Wayne County in Detroit, Michigan hired New Jersey-based software contractor CherryRoad to create and implement an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that would track the County’s yearly budgets and would replace the County’s legacy payroll system.

    The County paid CherryRoad over $10 million and ended up firing CherryRoad as their software project developers after nearly doubling the original project budget to $57 million and experiencing severe project schedule delays.
