Cadence Sues ConvenientPower Over Multiple Copyright Infringement Claims

    On June 22, 2021, electronic design automation (EDA) computer software company Cadence Design Systems filed a complaint against semiconductor company ConvenientPower HK, Ltd., ConvenientPower US, Inc., Shenzhen Yichong Wireless Technology Co., Ltd., Sichuan Yichong Technology Co., Ltd., and E-Charging Inc. for “cracking” and redistributing the plaintiff’s copyrighted circuit board simulation software in 38 of their own machines.

    Cadence alleges copyright infringement against ConvenientPower on three accounts of unauthorized use, and claims the Defendants owe Cadence over $37.4 million dollars in licensing fees.
