Apple’s Copyright Infringement Claims Dismissed in Case Against Corellium

    On December 29, 2020, Judge Rodney Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida dismissed Apple’s claims of copyright infringement in the matter of Apple, Inc. v. Corellium, LLC, finding that the defendant had demonstrated that their software operates under fair-use terms.

    The software in dispute relates to “a virtual iPhone environment” that allows users to run Apple’s iOS on a desktop computer, which many security researchers have used to test “iOS security and find flaws and bugs without buying an iPhone or iPad.”
