Viasat Wins $49 Million Breach of Contract Lawsuit Against Networking Provider

    On July 17, 2019, a jury in the Superior Court for San Diego County, California awarded satellite company Viasat $49.3 million after finding optical networking solutions provider Acacia Communications violated a 2009 contractual agreement and stole Viasat’s intellectual property.

    The breach of contract dispute began in January 2016, when Viasat alleged that Acacia incorporated Viasat-developed integrated circuits into their products and withheld payment of royalties.
