U.S. and U.K. Sign First Data-Sharing CLOUD Act Agreement

    On October 3, 2019, U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr and UK Home Secretary Priti Patel signed a landmark executive agreement under the CLOUD Act, titled the U.S.-U.K. Bilateral Data Access Agreement.

    The agreement allows government agencies to more efficiently access major crime data from companies located abroad, including information in criminal cases involving terrorism, transactional organized crime, and child exploitation.
