On March 6, 2019, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a summary judgment in favor of The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox, and Warner Bros., finding that video streaming company VidAngel violated copyright law under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
The software copyright infringement lawsuit began in June 2016, after the plaintiffs alleged VidAngel’s streaming service circumvented “technological protection measures” in order to offer unauthorized film copies to customers.
