Judge Reverses $308 Million Software Patent Infringement Verdict in PMC v. Apple

    On August 5, 2021, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Judge Rodney Gilstrap reversed a jury verdict in the patent infringement matter of Personalized Media Communications, LLC v. Apple, Inc., in which Apple had been ordered to pay to Personalized Media Communications, LLC (PMC) $308 million for infringing upon a patent related to digital rights media.

    The judge determined that PMC purposefully delayed filing an application at the U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in hopes that the lawsuit settlement amount would increase.
