On March 15, 2019, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released a 2018 “Privacy and Data Security Update” which highlights key data security and privacy enforcement actions in 2018, and which offers insight into the data privacy priorities of the FTC in 2019.
The report addresses the FTC’s enforcement efforts for policy related to credit reporting and financial privacy, children’s privacy, and telemarketing and do-not call enforcement.
